Pokemon Go also snuck in a surprise into its newest event. Any Pichu found during the event will also be sporting Ash's distinctive cap.
There are a few caveats here. Pichu doesn't naturally appear in the wild, so you'll need to hatch it from an egg. Plus, "Ash Hat Pichu" will only hatch from eggs obtained during the event, so you won't have any luck hatching eggs obtained before July 6th.
Luckily, Pichu hatches from 2 KM eggs, so you'll be able to quickly cycle through eggs to obtain this Pokemon. Because it can't be caught in the wild or evolved, Ash Hat Pichu will likely become one of the rarest Pokemon in the game after the event ends.
"Ash Hat Pikachu" will retain its distinctive cap if evolved into a Raichu. This isn't exactly surprising news, as Party Hat Pikachu and Holiday Hat Pikachu also kept their headwear after evolving.
However, there aren't any "Ash Hat Raichu" out in the wild. Multiple players have reported that all Raichu encountered during the event are hatless, meaning that you can only get this Electric-Type by evolving an "Ash Hat Pikachu."
From April 13 through April 20, 2017, look forward to a bundle of Egg-themed promos in Pokemon GO. A greater variety of Pokemon can now be found in 2 km Eggs. And when any of your precious Eggs hatches, you'll be rewarded with more Candy. Plus, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop. You'll also earn double XP for all activities during this time.
THE POKEMON GO Easter Event start time is scheduled for later today with double XP bonuses and increased chances of hatching rare Pokemon in eggs. Here's everything you need to know.
POKEMON GO EASTER EVENT UPDATE 2
Pokemon GO Players won't have to "save those candies" for much longer as the new Easter Event kicks off today.
Trainers can look forward to 2XP (double experience points) and increased chances of catching rare pokemon from egg hatches.
This is all that's known so far, but it's plausible that the event could also include additional extra's such as increased spawn rates for Exeggcute, or special easter themed bundles in the shop with deals on bulk buys of lucky eggs or incubators.
This could be a clever way for Niantic to rake in more cash from the app and also would mirror a similar plan over Christmas when special boxes were available in the shop.
While Niantic has yet to officially confirm the event itself trustworthy sources with early information on past events have indicated that the validity of the information and believe it's due to start later today.
There's no official start time mentioned so far, but going off past events, we'll likely hear an announcement from Niantic in the next few hours before a full launch later tonight.
Stay tuned for more details, tips, tricks and hacks to make the most of the upcoming event!
